Mercedes-Benz » Atego II

The updated Atego II was presented in 2004. The first generation Atego was produced in a light duty version (GVW 6,5-15 tons) or heavy duty version (GVW 18-26 tons). The second generation Atego II is available only as a light duty distribution version. Heavy duty Atego I became the Axor model with the "R" prefix. The new generation received a new grille, bumper and headlights with teardrop shaped turn signals. The new Atego also received a new interior in the style of its "brother" Actros. The interior can be offered in three variants according to the customer's choice. The dashboard in distribution version is very compact, and it is free of handbrake (it is located near the seat). The same panel, but in the long range hauls version is equipped with three pockets, and there is a handbrake installed on it. And the most expensive version "Comfort" has wooden trimming and closing box in the middle. The interior has completely new decoration materials. By order, the new Atego can be equipped with a transmission with the Telligent system, which is almost the same as the Actros model has. But there are only 6 speeds in it (plus one rear), and it has another configuration of electronic control. The updated Atego has received the maneuver lights, mounted under the body, ahead of the rear wheel. When the reverse speed turns on, these lights shine directly under the wheels.
