IAA 2016: IVECO presents a revised New Stralis model range

IVECO presented a new generation of Stralis with a highway version Stralis XP. The New Stralis XP builds on the solid foundation of the Stralis Hi-Way, launched in 2012 and crowned “International Truck of the Year 2013”. It carries over the best of its predecessor, and in particular the Hi-Way cab, which is very well appreciated by customers, Iveco’s unique HI-SCR Euro VI solution that requires no regeneration and preserves the long-term value of engine and vehicle, and the excellent quality and reliability of the previous range.

IVECO also introduced a Stralis NP: a revolutionary gas truck for sustainable long-haul transport. The New Stralis NP is the first natural gas truck specifically designed for long-haul operations. It is the only truck that can run on Compressed or Liquid Natural Gas, or a blend of the two, to deliver the power rating, comfort, transmission technology and fuel autonomy to suit long-distance haulage missions.

IAA 2016: Updated PACCAR PX engines for DAF CF and LF became 12% more efficient

As part of the DAF Transport Efficiency philosophy, DAF is introducing innovations to the successful DAF LF and CF distribution trucks with PACCAR PX engines. Higher torque at lower revs contributes to enhanced driver comfort and better fuel efficiency. These engine enhancements in combination with the new, faster drivelines reduce engine revolutions up to 300 rpm at a cruising speed of 85 km/h and provides up to 4% better fuel efficiency.

New software and optimized heat and air management for the efficient and reliable 4.5 litre PACCAR PX-5 and 6.7 litre PACCAR PX-7 engines have increased torque by up to 12%. Maximum torque of the 4 cylinder PACCAR PX-5 engine in the DAF LF series now goes up to 850 Nm at 1,200 – 1,500 rpm, and for the PACCAR PX-7 engine in the DAF LF and CF, torque reaches 1,200 Nm at 1,100 – 1,700 rpm.

MAN Truck & Bus Latin America prepared a new model designed specifically to deliver beverages. It is called VW Worker 17.230 6x2 / 4 Distributor. A 3rd non-driven steerable axle was added behind the first. It increased a capacity by 630 kg, what means that the transportation costs are reduced by 5% per trip.

Unusual chassis configuration with 1st and 2nd steerable axles and one driven axle in the back make an access to a load more comfortable. The installation of additional axis will be made by BMB - the official center for customization of company Volkswagen with saving a factory warranty!

MAN Latin America is showcasing the success of its 'tailor-made concept' at the IAA 2016 in Hanover.

VW Constellation 24.280 CNG

The VW Constellation 24.280, the flagship and market-leading product in Brazil for eight years running, appeared at the trade fair with a CNG drive system, which is a sustainable addition to the conventional diesel engines on offer. Estimates for the prototype envisage a 20% reduction in nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions compared with certifiable diesel engines in Brazil, which is compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standard and surpasses the current Euro 5 standard. With a range of up to 200 kilometres, the gas storage tank doesn't change the load capacity of the truck in comparison to the diesel version. The maximum load is 12.5 tonnes. Using beverage logistics as an example, this amounts to ten pallets each weighing 1,250 kilograms or a total of 9,400 bottles.

VW Constellation 25.420 Prime

A further highlight of MAN Latin America's appearance at the trade fair is the VW Constellation 25.420 8x2 Prime, the anniversary model to celebrate ten years of the ConstellationLine, the market leader in the Brazilian truck market. The most powerful vehicle in the Volkswagen truck portfolio is fitted with a Cummins ISL 9-litre engine, which produces over 420 hp and 1,850 Nm of torque. The 16-gear V-Tronic ZF automatic transmission results in significant fuel savings, thus increasing productivity and profitability during use. The reduced overall weight is one of the model’s greatest advantages, as the maximum load has been increased by one tonne in comparison with its major competitors.

Alongside a significant change in the interior, exclusive colours, automatic V-Tronic gearbox and other high-quality details, the exhibited model has a strong focus on environmental aspects. The environmentally friendly driver compartments are made of up to 18% recycled plastic components, thus succeeding in making the vehicle more sustainable overall. The new design results in a weight reduction of 12 kg.

Mack Trucks is offering customers with concrete mixer applications a lighter-weight solution to meet their demanding needs. The Mack Granite model, equipped with the 2017 Mack MP7 11-liter engine and the Mack mDRIVE HD 14-speed automated manual transmission with creeper gears, is lighter than its predecessor. Mack’s 11-liter MP7 engine received a number of advancements for 2017 designed to simplify maintenance and improve efficiency. The MP7 is about 51 pounds lighter with up to 425 horsepower and 1,560 lb.-ft. of torque.

Mack was the first truck manufacturer in North America to offer low reduction gear ratios in a proprietary automated manual transmission. Along with the Mack mDRIVE HD 14-speed, Mack also offers the mDRIVE HD 13-speed, meeting the needs of an even wider range of customer applications with the performance that only a fully integrated powertrain can offer. 

Mack Granite mixers come ready for upfit right from the factory with a rear-engine PTO, a special mixer crossmember designed for mounting of the mixer barrel pump, frame rail transition plates for mixer body mounting and an additional access panel in the cab floor to service the rear-engine PTO.
