Irizar » Ie

In 2018, the Spanish coach builder Irizar showed the first company's truck. The Irizar Ie 6x2 is initially targeting municipal uses. Access to a spacious cabin with a low floor is carried out through the automatic door of the bus type, while easy movement inside the cabin is facilitated by folding passenger seats. Irizar claims that the new Ie has a lower step height than any of its competitors.

The Irizar Ie is powered by an electric motor made by Alconza with a power of 230 kW, which is connected to 75 kWh battery packs (their number may vary depending on the tasks) produced by Aduna. These systems are already used on Irizar buses. The chassis can be equipped with a range extender that is an Iveco Cursor 8 CNG engine, that is used to charge batteries.

The chassis is adapted to work with a variety of bodies. The Irizar Ie with a gross weight of 26 tonnes has a payload of 18 tonnes. The production should start in 2019.
