BAE Systems » RG-21

BAE Systems presented a new RG-21 MRAP at the AAD 2014. It was specially designed for export markets. The bodywork is more streamlined and should be perceived by civilians as safer, so the RG-21 can be used by United Nations-type forces.

The 13.8-ton RG-21 is based on an Italian Iveco Defense Vehicles 4x4 chassis, spare parts for which can be found in almost any country in the world. The engine is 5.8-liter diesel with power of 240 hp. Gearbox is 6-speed manual ZF. The chassis is equipped with a fully armored body consisting of two independent compartments: the front engine compartment and rear crew compartment. The V-shaped bottom, according to the company, should provide protection against a 14kg explosion under the hull and a 21kg explosion under any wheel station.

The modular interior allows you to adapt the RG-21 to various tasks, and the armored windows along the perimeter will provide a 360-degree view for the crew. The entrance and exit of the crew are carried out through the back door, which opens to the right. Various weapons systems can be installed on the roof of the RG21: from a simple machine gun to autonomous weapons stations, armed with machine guns of various calibers.

The RG-21 is produced in different versions: an APC for the crew of 12, mobile command post and an ambulance/medical treatment vehicle. BAE Systems offers a wide range of options, for example, air conditioning, additional armor, front winch and others. MRAP has a length of 6.49 m, width of 2.45 m and a height of 2.93 m.
