DAF » YA 126

DAF YA 126 is a 4x4 army vehicle developed in the beginning of 1950s to replace Dodge WC51 trucks. It is a lightweight bonneted truck fitted with an in-line, six-cylinder Hercules 4.6-litre petrol engine. It has an output of 102 hp and 285 Nm. The gearbox is 4-speed, manual. Designed primarily for use as a weapons carrier, radio truck or ambulance/fire tender, DAF YA 126 had a frontal appearance not dissimilar to the YA 054 jeep clone. Totally, 3426 trucks of this model were produced and delivered to the Royal Netherlands Army.

The designation YA 126 means: Y — military vehicle, A — general, 1 — load capacity in tonnes, 2 — the series (this is the 2nd series, because the 1st series was the prototype YA 116), 6 — the number of wheels (spare wheels on the sides are also in count). Overall dimensions — 4550x2100x2180 mm. Curb weight — 3400 kg, payload — 1000 kg, GVW — 4400 kg. Top speed — 80 kph. Range — 500 km.
