Another step in evolution of the flagship model was introduced in 2005 at the motor show in Amsterdam. The new XF105 model initially had to change extend, but not to change the existing range XF95. Why? XF95 met only Euro 3 standards, while XF105 was created based on Euro 4/Euro 5 environmental regulations and equipped with a standard SCR Adblue system. But XF95 stayed on the line just till 2006, when its production was discontinued.
Retaining all the stylistic features of the previously design, its cabin features reliability. New large grille, rounded top of the Super Space Cab roof with built-in lights, new optional xenon headlights, eye-catching fog lights on the front bumper,and mirrors painted with the same color as the cab create an original appearance of the new top truck.
PACCAR MX engine with a displacement of 12.9 liters manufactures at the DAF Trucks plant in Eindhoven. It is available in versions ranging from 410 to 510 hp and meets environmental standards Euro 5 or EEV. The use of high-quality materials such as cast iron with related graphite in the cylinder block and cylinder head, as well as an extensive functional integration provides high reliability and durability. Number of pipelines in the cylinder block and cylinder head were reduced in order to reduce the number of components and increase reliability of connections. The designers used a wet-type liner for optimal cooling of cylinders. Two-stage turbocharger with adjustable relief valve in addition to high capacity provides high torque over a wide range of engine speeds, while the turbine is loaded with less forces, which increases its life. Powerful built-in decompression brake has a maximum brake power of 325 kW, including at least 200 ... 250 kW in a working range. In autumn 2011 the company introduced a special version XF105 ATe (Advanced Transport Efficient) with a package of options aimed at improving the efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Using the new compact engine allows to reduce the height of the engine tunnel. Cabin became more spacious. Retractable gear shift selector (version with the AS-Tronic gearbox has no selector at all) does not prevent the passage from a driver's seat to sleeping compartment. The newly designed sleeping area includes two large shelves, the bottom can be used as a comfortable sofa. A folding aluminum ladder with wide steps is installed to provide an easy access to the top shelf. Under the shelf there are several boxes. You can set back a 45-liter refrigerator there. They can be installed in the holder located within easy access from the driver's seat.
