International » CV Series

At the end of 2018, International Trucks showed its new CV Series — truck maker’s refreshed re-entry to the medium duty vocational segment. The new Class 4/5 model came to replace the TerraStar and is available in wheelbases from 141 to 243 inches (from 3580 to 6170 mm) — (seven options for the version with a short cab and three for the version with a two-row cab) — and in 4×2, 4×4 configurations.

Inernational CV Series is equipped with a 6.6-liter diesel engine of its own design, which produces 350 hp and 700 lb.ft (950 Nm) of torque. It is slightly more than the 6.4-liter 300-horsepower MaxxForce7 engine of the TerraStar. The engine is combined with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive versions are equipped with Meritor gear-driven transfer cases.

The chassis of the truck was developed for easy body mounting. Strait frame rails have no rivets on top flange. Designers have provided a place for two batteries, which can be placed in a standard box under the cab. The design also provides multiple fuel tank options and optional exhaust outlets.

The rear air suspension has height adjustability and a number of entertainment systems, for example, an 8-inch color touchscreen with navigation and — for the first time in International trucks — Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. “The CV Series has been compared to a field office with perks,” says Navistar’s President of Truck and Parts Michael Cancelliere. “Our philosophy is that driver comfort is critical to get the job done smoothly and efficiently, and the CV Series brings that philosophy to life.”
