DAF » YT 514

DAF YT 514 is a 4x4 tractor, design for towing trailers YF 101 and YF 1014 (fuel tankers) and other standardized military semitrailers. It was a further development of the YT 1527L32 4x2 tractor.

The YT514 tractor became the first tactical military truck by DAF equipped with a diesel engine. The same engine was used on the armored vehicle YP 408. The cabin with flat panels, a soft top and folding windshield is similar to cabins used on YA 314 and YA 324.

There were two series of the YT 514: the 1st series produced since 1960, the 2nd — since 1966. Differences are similar to YA 314 and YA 324 trucks. Payload of the road train is 20 tonnes. Maximum load on the 5th wheel — 4700 kg. Overall dimensions — 5670x2350x2620 mm.

The engine — DAF DS-575, 6-cylinder, diesel, with an output of 165 hp at 2400 rpm and 520 Nm at 1600 rpm. Gearbox — 5-speed, manual. Transfer cased — 2-speed. Suspensions have semi-eleptical springs.

In the early 1980s, DAF YT 514 was replaced by the new DAF YTV 2300.
