ZIL » 132R / 132RS / 132RV

ZIL-132R (1974 - 1975) was a prototype of a 5-ton cabover truck, built in the beginning of May 1974. In fact, it was a more advanced modification of ZIL-132. ZIL-132R was equipped with an aluminum frame and a gasoline engine ZIL-130 V8, uprated to 165 hp. The prototype got a new 3-seater fiberglass cabin. For the first time for the '132' range, the prototype got a an independent torsion bar suspension of all wheels, and a dual pneumatic-hydraulic brake system with ventilated disc brakes. It also had a power steering.

Benches for a crew were installed in the all-metal cargo flatbed platform with a length of 4115 mm and an army tent. The standard equipment included two fiberglass tank with a capacity of 300 liters each and 14.00- 20 or 16.00-20 tires. Wheelbase - 2100 + 2100 mm, gauge - 2075 mm. Maximum length - 6990 mm, ground clearance - 380 mm. Curb weight - 6360 kg, GVW - 11360 kg. Maximum speed - 68 kph. Turning radius - 11 meters. Average fuel consumption was terrible - 78.4 liters per 100 kilometers. Despite plenty of power performance of ZIL-132R was very similar to ZIL-131.

In late 1975 the prototype was transformed to an agricultural version ZIL-132RS with a 180-horsepower ZIL-375 engine, and the following year was transformed into a tractor ZIL-132RV with a GCVW of 19.1 tonnes. It passed tests of 21 NIII, but further development under this range were stopped.
