Ahrens-Fox

I`m continuing to make brand pages under the letter A, and I`ve completed the chapter about the American manufacturer of fire apparatus the Ahrens-Fox. Ahrens-Fox trucks are often called the Rolls-Royce in the world of fire trucks. The company was formed in 1905 and originally manufactured horse-drawn steam fire engines. The first prototype of self-propelled fire engine was showed in 1911 and had front mounted piston pump. This feature became a hallmark of the brand. For 50 years the company has produced several generations of its models, updating them regularly. The Ahrens-Fox company, as a part of the C.D.Beck company was acquired by Mack Trucks Inc in mid-1956. Writing of this chapter was extremely difficult, due to the complexity of indexing of models, and lack of information. Many thanks to Sergey (Trucker), who sent me scans from the Illustrated Encyclopedia of American Fire Engine Manufacturers about this company. Without it, the writing was impossible. Well, as always, a few videos about finished brand.
