Ural » 4320 with ZIL 4331 cabin

The idea to put a ZIL truck cabin on the Ural chassis appeared in the eighties when ZIL started producing the new 4331. After all, this cabin seemed to be more comfortable and modern in comparison with the Ural cabin.

Actually, the idea began to take shape in 1992, but not on UralAZ itself: a joint venture of UralAZ, Zabaikalzoloto and Daursky Center in Chita decided to develop it. The designer Sergei Orlov prepared sketches of a future truck. It has a ZIL cabin and original fiberglass front end. But the project wasn't accepted by UralAZ.

Years passed, the project seemed to be forgotten forever. However, in 1997, an entrepreneur from Miass, Vitaly Maltsev, decided to return to the forgotten idea, and the designs were again created by Sergei Orlov. The front end was made of metal and with the idea to install the YaMZ-238 Euro 2 diesel. When the work was done at 70-80 percent a 1998 default occurred./p> However, Ural decided to finish the project but use the stock ZIL cabin. The only copy of the Ural-4320 chassis with a cabin from ZIL-4331 was made.
