In 1985, DAF prototyped a new tank transporter. The 6 x 6 tractor unit is a YTZ3300DKX, assembled largely from off-the-shelf components and the semi-trailer is the company's YTS10050, which is rated at 50,000 kg. The engine is a DKX1160 diesel of 330 bhp and it drives through a ZF transmission embodying a torque converter, a 16-speed gearbox and a transfer.
