Some heavy road tractors more closely based on the standard range but with normal control were built at Walton le Dale in 1960s. A series of 25 ton capacity Scamell-type model SBT 946 XA was built for Pickfords in 1962 with Gardner 6LX 150 bhp engines and six-speed gearboxes with double-reduction axles. There were also 6x4 version of this truck, which used as semi tractor or heavy hauler.
