Autocar » RB / RL / RM

In 1937 Autocar presented 2 new models of medium-weight range - the RM and RL. Autocar said, "These trucks carry the heavy-duty line down into the lower price class, the tag being well under any that Autocar has offered in years." The Model RL is rated at 4-5 tons with a gross weight rating of 20,000 lb. The Autocar Blue Streak engine with a piston displacement of 358 cu. in. is the power unit. The Model RM is slightly lighter, with a tonnage rating of 3.5-4.5 and a gross weight rating of 18,000 lb. The Blue Streak engine has a cubic-inch displacement of 313. Both models have Autocar five-speed transmissions, double-reduction rear axles and four-wheel vacuum-operated brakes.

In 1938, Autocar extended RL range by introducing the Model RLS with a gross vehicle rating of 25,000 lb. By 1939, Autocar presented the new model RB, which replaced the Model RM. It had a rated gross weight of 18,500 lb. and was offered in four standard wheelbases - 142 in., 164 in., 182 in. and 200 in. It was powered with the Autocar Blue Streak engine No. 351 with a piston displacement of 315 cu. in. and brake horsepower of 81 at 2400 rpm. This model is differed by new front fenders. The range was also included the tractor version RMT with 78 hp engine (produced till 1938), 6x2 Model RL with a gross vehicle rating of 32,000 lb., and the dump truck Model RLD with 85 hp engine.

In 1939-1940, all trucks received new shaped front fenders. Also, according to a new indexation of all Autocar trucks, these models were called from C-10 to C-40.
