Kenworth » K270 / K370

Peterbilt Motors Company and Kenworth Truck Company unveiled new design enhancements for the their medium duty cabovers in the Class 6 and Class 7 markets. Kenworth's models received new names K270 and K370. The new 2012 designs have paired a lightweight chassis and frame rail with a strategically positioned electrical system to optimize body installation and increase payload capacity. The new models utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology and are 2010 emissions compliant. In addition, the new designs are available with an Allison 2100 Series automatic transmission which helps provide a smooth, comfortable ride.

Both models are powered by the reliable, lightweight PACCAR PX-6 with horsepower ratings of 220, 240 or 250 and torque ratings of 520, 560 and 660 lbs-ft, respectively. Ideal for medium duty truck owners, the fuel-efficient PX-6 provides an in-line 6 cylinder 6.7-litre devise with four valves per cylinder, a high pressure common rail fuel system and features the best power-to-weight ratio available in its class. New models are differed from the last generation only by a slight change of the front grille.

Applications for the K270 and K370 include pick-up and delivery, lease/rental, towing/recovery, landscaping, furniture, and food processing and distribution that require a highly maneuverable truck with 18- to 26-foot van body size, stake bed, or roll-on/roll-off bed. The 63.4-inch BBC (front bumper to back of the cab) on the K270 and K370 provides a 55-degree wheel cut for excellent maneuverability.

The 33,000 lb. GVWR Kenworth K370 cabover will be offered in a 4x2 Class 7 truck configuration, and built on a North American-based chassis very similar to that of the rugged Kenworth T370 conventional. The K370 will feature the 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-6 engine with a standard 220 hp rating. Optional ratings are 240 hp and 250 hp. The K370 will be available with Allison 2500 HS and RDS 5-speed transmissions. The 26,000 lb. GVWR Kenworth K270 cabover will be offered in a 4x2 Class 6 truck configuration, and built on a North American-based chassis very similar to the Kenworth T270 conventional chasis. The K270 also will feature the 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-6 engine with the same power ratings, as the K370. The K270 will be available with Allison 2100 HS and RDS 5-speed transmissions.
