Since 1985, Daimler Benz AG started producing of medium-duty model (class 7) LP for the local market. The next models were produced: chassis and vans LP1219 and LP1419 with payload of 12 and 14 tons, respectively, and truck tractor LPS1525. The first two models were equipped with 6-cylinder diesel engine OM366LA with turbocharger and air cooling, develops 190 hp. The LPS1525 model was equipped with more powerful 5-cylinder turbodiesel OM429LA producing 250 hp (235 hp for California). The LP1419 differed from the LP1219 by the longer frame and reinforced rear suspension. All models are equipped with synchronized 5-speed manual transmission (6-speed for LPS1525). Trucks had a cabin from the European model NG.
